So Close Yet So Far…And…So Far Yet So Close

Have you ever been in a relationship where everything is nice and warm and still something is missing? It could be friendship from which love is missing or it could be love from which commitment is missing. You think that you are quite there and still that one thing that would have made it perfect eludes you. It can be a very frustrating experience. You don’t want to lose what you have with the person but you can’t stop yourself from wishing for more. It can lead to a lot of anxiety and is truly a test of patience.

Its like building a castle of sand. The higher you go, the greater the risk of the entire structure collapsing. Most of the time that risk is not worth taking. Which one of the following is tougher?
Risking a beautiful friendship in hope for something greater but no so probable or trying to stay just friends and risking life long regret? One part of you says, you will never be happy staying just friends but the other part asks will you be able to stop being friends. If you take the risk you might end up losing all and if you don’t you might end up with a life time of regret.

Why can’t we be objective when it comes to relationships? Why do brain and heart pull you in different directions? In the end every decision you make is just a half chance. It it works out then it is hailed as a good decision and if it doesn’t you might end up being labelled rash and impatient or timid and cowardly as the case may be. Our minds are so messed up and the one thing that can help us in such situations is will power but love has a way of melting everything that comes in its way. If you feel it once, love is inevitable. There is no rollback, no stepping backwards. It is right there and you got to deal with it. If you have a solution to this dilemma please let me know :).

Coming to the Far yet Close part now…I somehow found my Class 1 group photo and posted it on facebook and the response has been stupendous. People I had not seen and spoken to in years have got back to me with the common sentiment being “School was the best time of our lives”. We were all united as Class 1 students and all the distances between us vanished even if momentarily. What made it special was that I got a call from the first person I ever called friend.

Svetank saw the pic and immediately called me. We have known each other for 18 years now and have been great friends through out. We haven’t seen each other in a while now…I think it’s been 8 years. Yet when we speak it’s the same as 10 years when we were in school together. Friendships made in innocence endure the test of time and distance as they are made without any objectives in mind. It was really heart warming to hear from him and we discussed the good and not so good things in our lives just as we used to 10 years back.

Sometimes I feel its so ironic how we can be so far from someone despite being so close and in fact wanting to be closer and still be so close to someone despite all the distance and limitations and still not have to try to hard for it.
